Burning Hearts (Ti Mangio il Cuore)

On Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 March CinemaltaliaUK’s mini film festival DONNE DI MAFIA returns to the Riverside Studios in London for its fourth edition. The festivalfocuses on the role and presence of women in the Italian mafia, and their portrayal in Italian cinema. The event is sponsored by the University of Bath, and after the March London screenings the festival will travel to Bath, where films will be shown at the Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution on 23 and 24 April.

 

This year’s line-up features Black Souls (Anime Nere) by Francesco Munzi, the 1958 classic title The Challenge (La Sfida) by Francesco Rosi, Burning Hearts (Ti Mangio il Cuore) by Pippo Mezzapesa, and Nevia by Nunzia De Stefano. Screenings will befollowed by Q&As with Black Souls director Francesco Munzi, the lead actress of Nevia, Virginia Apicella, plus a variety of panelists including journalists Clare Longrigg and Giorgia Scaturro, and academics Gaetana Marrone, Isabella Clough Marinaro and Veronica Vegna. Francesco Munzi and Virginia Apicella will be available for press interviews when in London.
