The Long Walk Home : An Escape through Italy

on Wednesday November 20th from 6 – 8pm

at The Gallery, 70 Cowcross Street, London EC1M 6EJ

The book is about his father Frank Simms’s escapes from two Prisoner of War camps in Italy, followed by a 700 mile long walk down the Apennines to rejoin Allied forces, helped on the way by many brave Italian families.  First published in 1951, and now reprinted with an extended essay by Marcus on his father’s adventurous life, including digging a remarkable tunnel to escape from the Charterhouse at Padula, south of Naples, (the most beautiful POW camp in Italy), followed by recapture and incarceration at the Fortress of Gavi in Piedmont, the Colditz of Italy.

Books may be purchased on the night at £14.99 .  Also available from Marcus direct or from the publishers, Sickle Moon Books, 61 Exmouth Market, London EC2R 4QL.
