The growing threat posed by the spread of the Covid-19 virus, and the latest advice issued by the British Government and its scientific advisers, have forced the British-Italian Society to suspend our regular programme of meetings and activities. We have already cancelled our March and April lectures, and are keeping the May and June events under review.
We are very conscious that the impact of the pandemic has been even more severe in Italy than in the UK. We have expressed, to the Italian Ambassador, the solidarity of the members and Trustees of the Society with the Italian authorities and the Italian people in facing and overcoming this latest emergency. Our thoughts are very much with our Italian friends in such difficult circumstances.
The British-Italian Society will remain as committed as ever to maintaining the close links of friendship, respect and mutual support between the United Kingdom and Italy through this and other challenges, and looks forward to encouraging cultural and other exchanges, and relaunching its programme, as soon as the situation improves.
